Boogaloo is a genre of music popular in the 1960s born from the mix of Puerto Ricans, Cubans, and African Americans that frequented New York clubs. Boogaloo combined American R&B, soul, mambo, and other Latin styles to create its unique sound.

Dear Creatures Fall 2010

Check out some pieces from the Fall 2010 from Dear Creatures. I feel like this is the most perfect clothing line ever made for a girl.

A tip: Befriend the brand on Myspace for announcements on sales. I have scored a ton of their stuff for half the price via secret sales on websites you have to sign up for.

Wavves - "King of the Beach"

Dudes, the new Wavves album is so good! It's a lot less "gritty" than their previous stuff. I am currently obsessed with the song "When Will You Come". The first time I heard it I thought it sounded very Phil Spector-esque, and then it turns out another song on the album samples The Crystals' "Da Doo Ron Ron".

Eating out: ECCO in Costa Mesa

ECCO opened a couple of months ago at The Camp in Costa Mesa. We ate lunch there today. It was super yummy! My favorite was the fig and guanciale pizza.

Fig and Guanciale pizza (with basil, pesto, fresh mozarella, goat cheese and arugula). Guanciale is a type of Italian bacon.

Mushroom pizza (with fontina, taleggio, thyme, and white truffle oil)

Prosciutto pizza

Blood orange martini

It can sometimes be challenging to find baby clothes that aren't lame. I love these Småfolk clothes. The girl stuff isn't all pink and glittery and princessy.
You can purchase Småfolk from Ittikid.

Seabirds truck to visit South OC

Food trucks are sweeping the nation, and Orange County has some great ones. The Seabirds truck will be making a rare appearance in South OC on Friday, September 10th from 11:30am to 2pm for lunch at the Irvine Auto Center (Lake Forest & Rockfield). It's almost impossible to find food trucks anywhere south of John Wayne Airport.

The Seabirds truck is special because they use all organic produce, most of it local, and they are 100% vegetarian. The BBQ tofu taco (pictured below) is delicious!

New Marimekko

Last week I ordered these Marimekko "Kanteleen kutsu cards." It is a set of 14 4"x6" cards, illustrated by Sanna Annukka. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them yet. Maybe I could frame some of them and make a colorful grouping somewhere in Xanadu.

While I was browsing the site, I also found this really cool tote bag (which I did not buy, but did add to my Wishpot).

Hello my beautiful babies (Conan, anyone?)

Here is the sitch...

I started this blog in 2007 as a place to post all the miscellaneous artsy fartsy stuff I was working on. These days I feel like I am too busy to fully engross myself in something like a painting, so I rarely have anything new to post. I like having an ongoing project, and I still want to post about miscellaneous stuff. A few of my friends requested that I just post anything I’ve got going on. So here I am starting fresh!

Now I have a place to post all the random stuff I like, do, see, etc. It’s more for my own personal enjoyment, but if you like it too, then that’s rad.

I'm very busy these days, but here's a doodle that I doodled. Doodle.
