Some things I like right now

Here are some more things I’ve pinned recently.
Different Brushstrokes dress from Mod Cloth
Loosened Shelby blouse from Anthropologie.

Dot & Zig serving spoons from Anthropologie & Retro Owl pillow from Room Service. I know people are tired of owls and birds, but I still like this pillow.

"Hop to it' ring from Lulu's & Little Brown Postal purse from Lulu's.

Craving Starfruit dress from Mod Cloth & gold basket weave flats from Lulu's.

And I have been pinning recipes like crazy. I am really into eggs right now. My favorite breakfast to make is poached eggs with avocado and goat cheese on some sort of delicious bread. I really love the idea of breakfast pizza, like this one from Smitten Kitchen. I will be trying that out real soon.

Another childhood relic

My mom is really on a roll. She recently cleaned out her garage and found this old sticker book. I am so glad I have a girl so I can share stuff like this with her. Kyle can teach her about baseball and Star Wars, and I will teach her about sticker books and how to play M.A.S.H.
What kind of creature is that blue thing? It has antlers, a beak, a mane, and pig feet.

Making mixes

Even though I'm 30, I still love making mixes for friends and decorating the sleeves. This one is for a friend's birthday. I used some scrap fabric on the flappy part.

When I was a teenager I got pretty crazy with some of them. In fact, I think the pinnacle of my mixtape-making went to my friend Mary Ann (martaan, where are you?). That thing was awesome and included collaged photos, hand drawn elements, and even glitter!

Little Girls

There are 2 free songs available for download at TheFader.

I really hope I don't get any weirdo Googlers on my site because of this band's name.

shortcake party accessories

I found this ridiculously adorable etsy store called shortcake party picks. I love the rainbow pom poms and the tulle pom garland.

Baby Z’s first birthday is next month! (The weekend of May 21-22) We don’t want to go too crazy and throw her a huge party. We just want our families there, and we are going to eat lunch, do cake and presents, and then go to the park behind our place so Z and her cousins can play. Even though I say I don’t want to go too crazy, I really can’t help myself when it comes to party decorations. I know our families don’t care if there are decorations or not, but I do. At least for the sake of having cute pictures to look back on. So I have one month to get it all together! Starting with ordering some of these super cute garlands.

Another dresser makeover

The Good Will store near us is actually 2 different stores right next door to each other. The first is just your standard Good Will, and then next door to it they have Good Will "Keepers", where they put all the stuff that is supposedly worth more. I don't know what criteria they use for determining which items will go to the "Keepers" store, because it's just all the same stuff but spaced out and organized a little better, and higher priced. Sometimes too high priced.

I saw this dresser in the "Keepers" store and it didn't have a price tag on it. I almost wasn't even going to ask how much it was because I figured they would have the price jacked up (plus, this is something that I thought really deserved to be a "keeper"). But I did ask, and the lady told me $50. Score! We own the sister to this dresser, which we painted last year (it got featured as a "before and after" on design*sponge.) Even though this dresser was in really great condition, I wanted to paint it anyway because I love the way painting old furniture an unexpected color gives it a more modern look.

I was tossing around the idea of painting this one gray like our last one, but instead I decided to go for mustard with white trim and metallic gold handles. I actually paid my sister to paint it for me since I have little time (or room) to take on a project like that, and she could use the money since she isn't working. She's surprisingly detail-oriented when it comes to stuff like this, so I knew I could trust her to do a good job.

I actually put the dresser in our living room. We used to have a small Ikea shelf there that housed all my cook books. I thought this would be a good new home for them, and a great way to hide some clutter. I think it will also be a good home for my unicorn lamp. My next step is changing out the artwork on the wall above it to make a more cohesive collection. I will post about that some day when I finish.

Las Vegas Neon Museum

My friend Kristine is officially my first roving reporter! She went to Las Vegas for 4 days to visit some friends and decided to do "all the non-douchey things in Vegas" (her words, not mine). I have always wanted to visit the Las Vegas Neon Museum, and that was one of Kristine's stops on her trip. Here are her pictures!
