I've been slowly… sloooowly… very slowly trying to decorate Zoey's play room. It's not really a "room" so much as a wing off of our living room that's open to everything, but let's just call it a room. I don't know why it's taking me so long, I have so many ideas for it. There are plenty of little DIY/craft projects involved (like the pom pom flowers), so I suppose I should just tackle my list. These colorful images from Castle are really providing me with inspiration.

Back-to-back food posts!
Fluffy coconut flour pancakes (recipe via Nourishing Days). I've been experimenting with different types of non-grain flours, like almond flour and coconut flour. These pancakes were fluffy just like "regular" pancakes, but they weren't sweet at all. After adding maple syrup, they satisfied my pancake craving, and I even felt a little bit guilty after eating them, so I know they were good. Plus, Kyle finished all of his. If you haven't eaten bread or "real" pancakes for a while, these will definitely hit the spot.
I made this beef kafta on Friday night, and it was one of the best things I've ever made. After reviewing several recipes and seeing sumac listed as one of the ingredients, I decided to swing by Jordan Market on my way home from work to pick some up. My kafta tasted just like the stuff I order at Lebanese restaurants! I am convinced it's the sumac, and maybe the grated onion I added to the meat. I served it with a side of tahini, and a salad made of Persian cucumbers, tomato, diced red onion, fresh parsley, mint, and dill, lemon juice, olive oil, salt and pepper.
A ridiculously quick, easy and tasty dinner: Spaghetti squash tossed with pesto, shrimp, and goat cheese. To make this even easier, instead of roasting, I pierced the spaghetti squash with a knife several times, then cooked it in the microwave for 8-10 minutes. When it was done and cool enough to touch, I just sliced it in half and scooped out all of the "spaghetti". This dish really came together in just the time it took to cook the spaghetti squash, because while that was in the microwave, I made the pesto in our mini food processor and cooked the shrimp. I was able to do this on a week night after going to the gym!
I am a huge nerd and love seeing what other people are eating. Especially what kinds of meals they have planned for dinner. Is that weird? Sorry about the photos. I love beautiful food photography and food styling, but I don't know how to do that myself. I usually just snap a quick photo with my phone before I hog down my vittles.

Three Hearts Bake Shop is an Orange County-based business baking up yummy cookie sandwiches. I spotted these cookie sandwiches (vanilla sugar with green tea filling, and peanut butter) at East Borough, but you can also find them at Sandwich World and Sage Café in Costa Mesa, and Deli-licious in Huntington Beach. It's funny I found these, because after watching an episode of "Unique Sweets" last weekend, I've had cookie sammies on my mind!

I just loved this light fixture. I always see light fixtures I love, but they require being wired into the ceiling, and we are renters so... no. This one was just a hanging light fixture with a regular plug. It was very tempting, but I didn't buy it. It would have been too expensive for an impulse buy. I'd need a plan first. It's huge!
These are pretty creepy. Notice that their "stands" are actually the tops of their cut-off heads!
This little cutie came home with me and is now hanging in Zoey's play room, but on a wall where it is still visible from the rest of Xanadu so that I can enjoy it. Kyle thinks it's kind of creepy.
I love all this colored glass. I didn't buy any though. It doesn't really go with that whole trying-to-declutter-and-simplify thing I've got going on right now. But I do love the way it looks when it's all grouped together, like here at the Parker Hotel in Palm Springs (scroll to bottom of the post linked).

I just wouldn't be a good friend if I didn't share with you that Orla Kiely towels are 50% off through their USA site! Bath towels that are normally $38 are on sale for $19. I still think $19 is pretty steep for one towel, but I would be willing to buy 2 towels as decorative accents, and then make sure whatever towels I buy in the future match them. Plus, I already have 2 that were gifts! Hand towels, bath mats, and wash cloths are also on sale.

Striped jesery peacoat, Anthropologie, $318. (yikes)
Smack Dab Adorable top, ModCloth, $47.99
Striped scarf, ModCloth, $7.99
Katie's Pencil Box dress, ModCloth, $39.99. I was skimming ModCloth and almost skimmed right over this dress. I love polkadots, but it didn't really look like anything special. But then I saw the name, and remembered that I had seen the blog by the same name pretty recently. So I went to her blog and saw how she styled the dress, and that is what converted me. Check out Katie, of Katie's Pencil Box, modeling the dress that was named after her.

Kyle and I were just reminiscing about the first time we heard this song. Pardon my language, but we were like "SHIT." Just... so good.
I had never seen this video until I searched youtube for this song last night. Kind of funny.
Great dancing in this video.
Definitely my favorite Supremes song.
This song is so good.
I am going to plan a living room dance party.

I've been calling this regular feature "Fun with camera phone" because I had fun experimenting with different photo apps when I first got my iPhone. But it's kind of evolved into little glimpses of my/our life. So I think it needs a new name. What say you, eenternetz? I suppose I could just go with "Glimpses"? Is that lame skies? "Snapshots"?
We've been enjoying some really nice weather.
Here is Zoey staring deep into a water fountain at Irvine Spectrum. I have zero shame in telling you how much I love Irvine Spectrum. If you don’t live around these parts, Irvine Spectrum is a big outdoor mall. Lots of shops and places to eat, places to sit and people watch, a movie theater, a giant ferris wheel, and a carousel. When Zoey was first born and I was on maternity leave and I found myself bored to death and just needed to get out of the house, I'd pack her up and we'd go to the Spectrum and just meander around. She loved being outside, and I loved that it made the day seem to go by a bit faster. Not to say that I didn't enjoy those newborn days, but when you are in the trenches (and home alone), they do seem long.
